Sewing Styles from Fatigues

Cutting and sewing fatigues fabric is interesting. The jackets and pants are made from a canvas weight fabric which is fabulous for totebags, luggage tags, and other products that can use a heavy fabric. It’s a fun challenge to figure out how to make products that incorporate pockets and other design details from the military uniforms.  A few of our products require the lighter weight twill that comes from some camouflage shirts, particularly the scrunchies and tissue holders. We find that we go through a lot of shirt and jacket backs to make the dog kerchiefs, phone cases, glasses cases and scrunchies. When we are able to design new products, a goal is to make some items using collar bands and pockets from shirt fronts.
