Designing the Accessories

Everyone needs a way to carry their phone, right? This wish evolved into two styles. The first Phone Case used pants belt loops on the back and a swivel hook on the front. After focus group evaluation, the hook got changed to an easier-to-use magnetic snap, but everyone liked the ready-made belt loops. The second phone case design is a direct result of input from the focus group. The group said they wanted a larger phone case with a credit card pocket and straps. I discovered if I sewed together the two Velcro-closed pockets from a jacket sleeve we could end up with a small Crossbody Bag with multiple SECURE pockets. This is one of my favorite products.

The Luggage Tag also evolved into two different styles. The first tag is the traditional vertical tag with a card window. After hearing requests for more privacy, I designed the Security Luggage Tag that folds the information to the inside. A fun feature of the luggage tags is that they use the ribbon drawstrings from the pants bottoms for ties.

The only challenge with the Glasses Case was making several versions to determine the best construction. The Dog Kerchiefs needed to use less fabric, so I chose a slip-on style instead of a tied on version.  Scrunchies had to be fatter than I would have liked because of the weight of the fabric, and the Tissue Holders were the easiest to design and make.
